2017 has come to an end and I now have a new passion, photography. My wife and I have been traveling around the world since 2009. We started small by repeatedly going to the Caribbean, but this year we went big! My wife brought up the idea of going on a Safari in Africa. Originally I dismissed the idea as I didn't find myself interested in it. What I didn't realize at the time was how this trip would change our traveling completely.

We started the year by traveling to the Bahamas and Colorado, and I made a quick trip to the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta. Then, in September, the time had come to board our longest flight ever, going from Atlanta to Johannesburg, South Africa. After almost 14 hours in the air, we made it to Africa!

We spent the night at The Residence in Johannesburg, and after an early breakfast made our way to the outskirts of Kruger National Park. This trip made me regret not having a good camera for the trip. All we took were some simple point and shoot cameras. At the time, I didn't want to spend time or money trying to learn how to properly use a DSLR camera. 😦

The best picture of the trip was of the Lion Cub below. The sunlight was at the perfect height and the lion was on top of a mound of dirt. The experience was amazing. That was the moment that I decided to take up photography as a hobby. It was also the time that made me realize Safaris are amazing.

Below are the photos I selected that represent some of my best photos throughout the year. Every year I will do a post like this to highlight my new hobby. Happy New Year!
