This is Part 2 of a several part series documenting our trip to Tanzania for another ‘once in a lifetime’ Safari which includes destinations like Qatar, Arusha, and a hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti.

We had another excellent flight on Qatar Airways. Once again, the service and food was top notch. We had breakfast one way and lunch the other.

Once we landed at Kilimanjaro Airport, Singita staff members greeted us upon arrival, grabbed our bags and loaded them into the Land Rover. We would be staying in Arusha for the night, before taking a flight to Singita’s property. As we continued our adventure, our driver from Singita took us to Lake Duluti Lodge in Arusha.

Arusha is located at the base of volcanic Mt. Meru. Lake Duluti Lodge is made up of 19 African styled chalets inside a thirty acre active coffee farm. Our drive lasted around 45 minutes and we saw various shops and villages along the way. As we slowed down to turn onto a dirt road, we heard the doors lock. This raised our concern slightly and we started looking around. There were hundreds of people walking about in the middle of the road. The driver explained that two days per week, a market is held here and it becomes very crowed. Our hotel entrance is a few hundred yard past this. We slowly, and I mean slowly, pushed through the crowd without any issues. We arrived at Lake Duluti and made it through their security gate.

We arrived later in the day, maybe 5 pm or so, and were disappointed to find out that we missed the tours and activities for the day. We would not have time tomorrow since we had an early flight to the Safari lodge.

We decided to walk the property and take some pictures before making our way to check out our room. We even walked off property, with a guide, to Lake Duluti.

It was getting close to dinner time, so we headed up to the bar for some drinks. As you may know, I like to sample the local beers when I can. After some samples, dinner was served.

After Dinner, we headed to our room for the night. We were exhausted from all the traveling, but tomorrow will bring a new energy as our Safari begins.
