As we continue our trip through Europe, we took a morning train from Paris to Brussels, Belgium. We arrived in Brussels via train around lunchtime and walked from the station to City Center. We checked into our hotel, the Brussels Marriott Hotel Grand Place and quickly found a cafe, Le Grand Cafe, across the square to sit outside and have some lunch. We were able to have our first taste of a Stella Artois in Belgium!
was now time to start taking in the sights such as Manneken Pis and the Royal Palace of Brussels.
We then took a taxi to Atomium. The Atomium is a landmark building in Brussels, originally built for the 1958 Brussels World’s Fair.
After getting back from Atomium, we headed back to the cafe for dinner. We were happy to see a live street performance going on with various musicians. My asked the waiter for a glass of white wine. The wait bluntly said “no”. I chuckled a bit and asked why not. Apparently they did not serve wine by the glass, only by the bottle. Luckily, it was a smaller bottle than what we would normally get in the states, so it all worked out.
Brussels is know for it's Chocolates and Waffles and we had both!
We left Brussels and headed back to London for one more night before heading home. I had lamb for my meal and dropped my fork and got red sauce all over my white shirt. My wife was very amused by the situation. Here are a few other photos from Brussels.
