We have visited Sandals Emerald Bay in 2013, 2015 and 2017. Emerald Bay is located in Exuma, Bahamas. The golf course and the beach are one of our favorites. It is so nice there, we even looked into property at the neighboring Grand Isle Resort.
The Beach is very wide and is a great place to go for a morning run.
The water is fairly calm as it is sheltered by land on each side. I swam very far out, almost to open ocean, but did not see anything worth noting. I moved over and swam close to the bank near the golf course and things picked up. I was able to see some small fish. Also, I saw tons of golf balls from tee shots gone wrong. I wouldn’t be surprised if I was looking at one of my golf balls. So many, I decided to entertain myself and collect as many as I could carry. After filling my pockets, I swam back to our palapa and dropped them off. I picked up my snorkel bag and went back for a big haul. Based on the photo, I think I did alright.
The food at Emerald Bay is good. Its nothing spectacular and will get boring. The good things are the Pizzas and the breakfast. Unfortunately they do not have a Steak restaurant like other properties we have visited. That would definitely make this resort more attractive.
We played golf several times during our stays and I still think it has some of the prettiest views from a golf course I have seen. Along the back 9, you can get some views of the houses just outside of Grand Isle Resort. There is a yellow house that I am in love with. It has the perfect view of the Cay.
All in all, we enjoyed our stays here. We would like to go back, but the price of the room combined with the food quality just doesn’t work for us. The service is not consistent, but every now and then they impress us.
