When we started planning our wedding, we decided on a low key destination wedding on the beach. After some research we decided on Sandals Royal Bahamian in Nassau, Bahamas. It seemed to be exactly what we were looking for: a beach wedding, all-inclusive, and all of the logistics handled by the resort.

n order to get married in the Bahamas, they require you to be on the island for 24 hours prior to the ceremony.  Also, you need to go into downtown Nassau to obtain your marriage license. Once that is complete, it’s time for the “big day”. We had a private ceremony on the beach. Sandals provides everything you need for the ceremony to include the wedding official, witness, and photographer.  Once the ceremony is complete, you are whisked away to your private reception area for appetizers and the wedding cake.

Once the wedding was complete, we were able to relax a bit and enjoy some of the activities. We went kayaking and snorkeling and enjoyed the all you can eat food and drinks.

My wife had to convince me to travel to a beach destination as I had never enjoyed just “sitting on a beach”. After a couple of days on the island, I started to see the light. This trip was the beginning of our passion for travel. We would return to Nassau four more times before deciding we wanted to explore the world.
